Mother's house. Maer Bari is a multi-storey family residence in Nikunja, near the airport, Dhaka — a site shaped by summer and winter breezes, airport noise, neighbouring residential buildings, and views that needed both capturing and filtering.
The concept draws from the traditional Bangladeshi village home: formal, private, service, and informal spaces arranged around a central uthan (courtyard). That spatial logic — hierarchical yet permeable, communal yet protected — is reinterpreted for a dense urban plot. The Golden Ratio (φ = 1.618) structures the proportional relationships between spaces.
Climatic analysis drove the orientation: summer and winter breeze paths, sun path, noise sources, and airport approach vectors were all mapped before the first plan line was drawn.
